Corruption in Nepal

Corruption,abuse of entrusted authority for personal gain, is a scourage that no society is free of and it holds true of Nepal. Realizing its ill effets ,around 1768 AD, it was referred as the worst crime. Bribe givers/ takers were taken as the worst ciminals of lthe lmation. Corruption as a state crome was bigger problem during the Rana rule from 1851 as then ruler turned state coffers into personal property .Only after the dawn of democracy in 1951, legal provisions and institutions were set up to combat corruption. read more..

About us -> working tools

JGAC rings people of integrity in civil society, business persons and government together to work as  conditions for systemic reforms. It tries to focus on building systems that inhabit corruption. It works as non- partisan body and is fully impartial and independent. Awareness  building using modern communication tools to give access to information on corruption.

 

JGAC will also:

    • Conduct programmes and  activities for the purpose of making public conduct and behavior transparent.
    • Make people aware of the benefit of transparency in the government, public institution  and society as a whole through educational materials and programmes.
    •  Encourage public organizations to formulate a code of conduct for making financial activities transparent
    • Endeavour to control all forms of corruption in the activities like development works, public constructions, purchases and sales involving national resources and foreign aid.
    •  Widely disseminate information of its national experience on anti- corruption initiatives.
    • Collaborate with other anti- corruption organizations and
    • Maintain database on corruption
