FUTURE PROGRAM FOCUS
JGAC is determined to continue pushing towards the anti-corruption programs in the country. Its priority during 2008-2012 will mainly be advocacy, awareness, training, education and sensitization.
Policy research and advocacy: Strengthening democracy and rule of law for corruption control, securing access to information for greater transparency, corruption control for poverty alleviation, curbing corruption in public procurement, reducing corruption in politics, asset declaration by public officials, promoting anti-corruption education, ethics and investigative writing training. Similarly, preventing corruption in development cooperation, promoting judicial reforms and application of anti-corruption law, bank frauds and defaults, money laundering, corruption in specific sectors are some of the further programmer. JGAC can conduct these programs individually or jointly with different governmental organizations, non- governmental organizations and donor agencies as per the need.
JGAC Strategies
JGAC has worked out a strategic plan for effective interventions in the future. The policies framed under the strategies are summarized here under:
- To put pressure for the ratification of UN Convention against corruption,
- To seek irrevocable commitments from political parties for corruption-free society,
- To build pressure to end impunity,
- To raise voice against corruption in security forces (Army and police),
- To develop a transparency Act to promote good governance,
- To help fight policy-level corruption,
- To build awareness against corruption among new generation,
- To use all media-print, broadcast to launch effective anti-corruption drive,
- To expand network with civil societies and like minded organizations,
- To decentralize program and provide importance of decision at appropriate level,
- To enhance frequency of interactive programs with political parties, youths and journalists,
- To cooperate with poor and dalits for greater service delivery,
- To provide more autonomy to local groups,
